Excellent analysis of last night’s meeting and everything leading up to it starting with the firing of Dr. Scott Baker in January 2022. The students, staff, and free public education suffer. We the people can do nothing except wait for election day. A tragedy.
Who is Albert King? Where is Albert King? Albert King could overrule the will of over 25,000 families in the Spotsylvania Schools?! One person named Albert King is not responsible for this unmitigated disaster?! Every eligible voter that voted for these 4 or just didn’t bother to vote are responsible for this. Voter apathy and disinformation are the cause of our community’s shame.
Mr. King was a key member of the Republican party who guided many of those in office, including Supervisors, who are fiscal conservatives. He was a very nice man who recently passed away!
I have so many more things I could, and do focus on daily. Unfortunately my wife and I cringe every time we watch a school board meeting and follow the circus taking place before our eyes. You are right on Marty and I won't repeat your key points...however Mr. Taylor knows he is under the gun and knows his heavy-laden central office staff is not 127th in the state. That is impossible and would put Spotsy behind some of the tiniest school divisions in Virginia....even Fredericksburg City. At a quick glance, even though the only data I could find was from 2021, 2 years ago, one could easily see the power divisions of Fairfax, Loudon Co. Albemarle, Virginia Beach, Prince William along with 6-7 more at the top. Spotsylvania Co. could possibly be no lower than 15-16 in the state -depending on who Mr. Taylor is classifying as administrative staff, a game I 'm sure he manipulated. TRUST is the key word in this narrative! We do not TRUST Mr. Taylor or Twigg and crew. His central staff is overloaded and he knows it. Is the security guard who is there daily also an administrator? Who really knows. The supervisors can not specify line items requests, but they can designate categorical spending if I remember correctly, and they should. Spotsy needs to focus on one priority --- keeping existing staff and filling vacant positions especially special ed. with highly qualified teachers. The fact that utilities are going up and the price of gas yes they need some attention - BUT are you ready for this...BUS TRANSPORTATION IS NOT REQUIRED IN THE STATE! I don't want to see that cut, but it is an area that CAN BE ADJUSTED!!
