Democrats have their work cut out for them if they are to win the 28th Senate District, a contest between Durrant (R) and Griffin (D). After the Virginia Supreme Court created the new district, analysts said it leaned slightly Republican. If you look at the primary turnout, 14,000 Republicans voted while only 10,000 Democrats. That does not bode well for Democrats and shows how much work they have to do to improve party turnout this fall.
