I find it interesting that the same people who seem so worried about what hidden messages that kids may get from books that merely talk about something they either fear or don't understand; don't seem to mind the message given when you seem unwilling to obey laws and rules that don't suit you that everyone else is expected to obey.

Today's "conservatism". Ain't what it used to be.

Or maybe it is, and we have just forgotten....

SMH.

You could write a series of articles on their non compliance with FoIA requests… and destruction of state records. Plus sharing of confidential student information… and there’s Mrs Phelps retaliation, bad, faith, and gross misjudgment in violation of the ADA in section 504.

The swim team debacle is the tip of Mrs Phelps’ iceberg.

Unsurprising, but glad this was able to be figured out.

Taylor and Phelps have proven time and again they can’t be trusted. I’m confident there are other FOIA requests that they have refused to comply with as well, especially over the library books that were taken off school shelves.

Thank you for writing this, Adele.

Mr. Marcus, thank you for sharing the information.

Could be more "cause" for firing Taylor? His contract mentions he is to follow the laws of the Commonwealth.

The steady pressure and vigilance of the community is in everyone's best interests. It is hoped that all will realize that, focus in, and demand accountability and transparency. The suffering the young people in the Swim Program have experienced in this crisis is ongoing. Relationships have been torn. The kids are trying to hold on to the idea that there's a "right" and a "wrong" and they're not seeing that right is worth the effort. It's beyond the "parent" and Phelps et al at this point. It's all of us. We must snap out of our fog and focus on the task at hand: transparency and accountability for all involved. As I taught the kids: "We don't leave as long as there's still one Bear Paw in the water." And I mean it.

Gillespie also appears to have substantially failed to comply with the FOIA requests as well. The article may not make that clear, but that is so as well.

That is not surprising.

There is a pattern and practice of noncompliance within many SCPS employees and School Board members.

It is time to call for Justice. It's not politics, Ms. Phelps. It's our community.
