First, a bit of Freud: Projection is a psychological phenomenon where feelings directed towards the self are displaced towards other people. Psychoanalysts regard projection as a defense mechanism of alterity concerning "inside" content mistaken to be coming from the "outside" Other. . . . In its malignant forms, it is a defense mechanism in which the ego defends itself against disowned and highly negative parts of the self by denying their existence in themselves and attributing them to others, breeding misunderstanding and causing untold interpersonal damage.
Second, I don't have a definition of 'woke.'
Third, I don't, haven't, and won't discriminate.
Fourth, I respect the law and wouldn't violate it, regardless of my personal beliefs on any subject, and that applies at the taxpayer-funded pittance or the fair and full wage.
Fifth, and finally, something more useful about the operations of those of us "sent out as sheep among wolves": Matthew 10:16.
Just tell me, rather than quote Freud, if you think I asked a question in bad faith. You also didn’t answer my first question: What was your reply to the parent’s ignorant text?
The question landed on me negatively because of the concern I might impose a hateful disposition on children, in violation of law to boot. I honored the question with an honest answer. As for the answer to the parent, it did not address the "woke" comment, which I dismissed as obiter dicta, and instead delay with the need to make good personal choices on campus, without regard to politics.
Christ LOVED LGBTQ people, as he loved me. I cannot love Christ and hate, or be hateful, to others. And I do love Christ. That said, Christ routinely engaged bigots and persons with odious views. It's part of the deal.
Mr. Marcus: I have no reason to believe any of your texts were inappropriate. However, I’m curious how you replied to the following text: “ [My child] respects you and I hope we can influence her to stay close to God’s teachings and away from Woke for her studies…”
What’s your definition of “woke?” Just hoping you didn’t use your taxpayer-funded position to promote discrimination against the LGBTQ community. Again, I’m not saying you did this—but I’m just wondering why the parent thought you would teach her child to steer clear of woke.”
There is no policy about communicating with students. If the parent was so concerned, why didn't she press charges? My guess: because there was nothing inappropriate in any of the texts that SHE asked for.

Theadore,
Thanks for the reply. I’m glad you support LGBTQ students.

Again, thank you for supporting LGBTQ students, who are being exploited as political pawns by the GOP.
Perhaps a reality TV show based on the past two years in SCS will sell and the proceeds will fully fund the schools?!
😆 good idea!
Excellent reporting, Adele. Thank you.

Is there any evidence of an on-going investigation into the original parental complaint, particularly regarding any violation of school policies?
