Light is central to good photography. Arriving home late this week from two meetings, I parked astride a garden next to our driveway that we seed with wild flowers each year. My headlights were focused on the car parked in front of me, but the reflection bounced back onto the Dame’s Rockets in a way that allowed me to see these flowers in a way I never had.

With no shadow,
Blossoms.
— Hasegawa Kanajo (1887-1969)
