The Stafford School Board will hold a work session at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, followed by the regular monthly business meeting at 7 p.m.
Work Session
Items on the agenda for the work session include a discussion about Commonwealth Governor’s School, an annual update on the school division’s strategic plan, a discussion of capital improvement plan and 3R (repair, replacement, and rehabilitation) project priorities for fiscal year 2026, the School Board’s legislative priorities for the 2025 General Assembly session, and high school redistricting.
There is also a closed session to discuss job class and associated compensation for “a Central Office administrator(s).”
Business Meeting
There are 15 items on the consent agenda, including approval of personnel appointments and resignations, acceptance of a grant from the Virginia Department of Social Services to support Afghan refugees, and awarding of contracts for roof repairs at Brooke Point High School and Ferry Farm Elementary School.
Presentations
Representatives from the J.G. Consulting, the firm hired to conduct the search for the next division superintendent, will present the results of community engagement sessions.
The capital improvement planning advisory committee will present its annual report and recommendations.
The gifted advisory committee will present its annual report and recommendations.
Awards and Recognitions
Presentation of Arts in Education Week proclamations to David Vita, music teacher at Moncure Elementary School, and Courtney Hupman, visual arts teacher at Widewater Elementary School.
Presentation of Attendance Awareness Month proclamation to Markita Brown, coordinator of attendance services.
Presentation of Suicide Prevention Week proclamation to Chrissy Blankenship, coordinator of school social work.
Presentation of Hispanic Heritage Month proclamation to Erika Cantu-Glave, teacher at Mountain View High School.
Action Items
Approval of proposed CTE equipment expenditures, using $1 million in one-time state funding.
Adoption of fiscal year 2026 budget priorities.
Award of a contract for construction of elementary school 19. The online agenda item will be updated “after finalization of the review on September 9, 2024, this agenda item will be updated to reflect the selected vendor/contractor.
